Army Reserve “Try One”

“Try One”

The Army Reserve's "Try One" program is a one-year enlistment or transfer option for prior service members to experience the Reserve without a long-term commitment. It's a chance to see if the Army Reserve is a good fit, but participants typically cannot attend re-class training schools, or deployment / mobilizations due to a lack of remaining time in service (TIS). The Soldier attend monthly drill weekends and Annual Training (AT) but wont have enough remaining TIS to become MOS qualified if they are trying a new MOS;  meaning you might not be fully qualified or able to participate in certain activities during your short enlistment. This offers the Soldier and their family the opportunity to continue their service in a different career field, with the Army Reserve desiring them to continue as well. If the Soldier decides to continue their service they are permitted to re-enlist or extend to meet the TIS requirements to attend school for the career path they have chosen. If the Soldier does not desire to continue their service they will be transferred back to the IRR or separated if they no longer have remaining IRR time remaining. To learn more and see if you qualify, you should contact. This transfer does not require a visit to meps, a passing record ACFT or updated PHA.
